Rest-of-the-year TBR

As I’ve said in the last 3 or 4 posts now, reading is not really something I seem to be doing right now. So a TBR for November would be overly optimistic. Nevertheless, there are some books I would love to read before the end of 2017, so I thought I’d share those, and we’ll see which of them I’ll get to in November.  Continue reading

July + BookTubeAThon Wrap-up

So July is over, which tragically means my last full month of summer break is too. Thankfully I’ve been reading a lot more this month than I did in June so I feel like I’ve made the most of my break. Here’s what I read this month.

When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon – 3.5ish stars. SO CUTE

The Secret History by Donna Tartt – I haven’t even rated this book yet and I’m done thinking about the whole business, at least for now. But the fact that it took me 3 months to read might indicate my feelings towards it.

Everything Leads To You by Nina LaCour – 4.5 stars. FAVORITE OF THE MONTH OMG. IT WAS ADORABLE.

The rest of the books are what I read for BookTubeAThon so I’m just going to do the rest of the wrap-up as a BTAT one.

BookTubeAThon Wrap-up

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi – Finish a book in one day, read about a character very different from you. 3ish stars, review here.

Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi – 3 stars

Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi – 3.5 if we stretch it.

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli – A hyped book. 2.5 stars. Okay, but man had I expected more.

Lady SusanCover buy. 4 stars (also a stretch). Favorite of the readathon.

Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson – Book with a person on the cover. 3 stars. Or maybe 2.5 in hindsight.

Ms. Marvel, Vol. 2: Generation WhyRead a book completely outside. Fun fact: It was pouring down when I read it but I had to do it because it was the last day. I was miserable. Anyway. I don’t rate comic books because I don’t really understand them but I did like Vol. 1 better so yeah.

Did you participate in BTAT? Did you manage all 7 books? Either way, tell me your favorite read in July!

Thanks for reading!

Review: Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

So for the first 3 days of BookTubeAThon I read the Shatter Me trilogy. Like many other books I read during BTAT, my impression was pretty meh. But there was definitely some upsides, as well as a few downsides to the series. This will mostly be a review on Shatter Me, but I’ll mention a few things about the other books in the bottom of this post. Don’t worry, it’ll be 100% spoiler free!

Prepare yourself, one helluva rant is coming up. Continue reading

July TBR

My reading hasn’t been going all too well lately, it’s been ages since I had a month where I read A LOT. Maybe July could be it? Probably not, so I’ll set my TBR count pretty low to not disappoint myself, like in June when I read 4/9 books. Whops. Continue reading

Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag 2017

We’re already halfway through 2017 so here’s a little reading update from me in the form of the MID-YEAR BOOK FREAK OUT TAG. So far I’ve read 29 out of the 52 books I sat as my reading goal  so I’m a few books ahead of schedule. Feels good.tor16 023.JPG

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2017.
Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom. I mean, Crooked Kingdom was a little bit better but it’s the whole experience.

Diversity Spotlight Thursday #2 | girls who likes girls

Diversity Spotlight Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by Aimal @ Bookshelves & Paperbacks you can find the original post and the rules here. What you have to do is basically just answer the 3 questions below. Today I’m doing the Diversity Spotlight with focus on girls who likes girls. (Also, I’m very aware this is a day late, but in my defense I wrote it last night, I just didn’t have the opportunity to post until now.) Anyhow, let’s get into it!
